3 Lotions That Turned My Oily Skin Around

It wasn’t until I was 19 years old that I found out that lotion helps oily skin. My dermatologist never explained that to me.  It was beauty guru, Ingrid Nilson, who shed this light. I’d always thought that since I have oily acne-covered skin, lotion would make it worse. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The reason my skin is oily is BECAUSE its not being moisturized and is trying to do it itself. I know, it makes sense but is also mind blowing.

Now, I have 3 lotions that I know are reliable and really help my skin. I found these through trial and error and many, many samples from Sephora. I have oily and acne prone skin and these don’t give me trouble AT ALL.

My true ride or die is Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Facial Moisturizer. It was the first lotion that noticeably made a difference in my skin texture. I started stealing pumps from my roommate before buying my own bottle. * It’s lightweight, layers well with makeup, and Jennifer Aniston endorses it. Really, what else could you need to be sold?

I think the Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer is the most produced sample size lotion in the world. Sephora always has it in the points case. Birchbox, Ipsy, and any other beauty box subscription services send a sample of it every few months. It’s actually a godsend because I’ve never had to actually buy it. If I’m running low, another sample is right around the corner. It is cooling on the skin, smells fantastic, and leaves my skin looking visibly bouncier. It’s honestly so useful to keep in your bag to use throughout the day.

Kate Somerville is really who changed the game for me. The Nourish Daily Moisturizer is the best lotion I have ever used. I’ve been using it for years.** It smells fantastic, is so lightweight, absorbs quickly, and really helps balance out my skin. Plus, it come in fun packaging where you press down on the top to dispenses the product which seems A LOT more hygienic than scooping out of a tub with your fingers. The biggest downside is that it is more than I want to spend on my daily moisturizer at the moment. *** Now, I use it sparingly, when I really need it, and savor our time together.

The most important aspect of these lotions, for me, is that they are all oil free. Lotion with oil, no matter what type, really doesn’t do my skin any favors. Let me know if you try any of these or have any recommendations!

In: Bouncy skin, sitting in the sun, stress free evenings under an open window

Out: Dull skin, stress acne, dry fall skin.
